In what looks like it’s going to be a thrilling and wild sequel to 2011’s grimy shocker The Woman, we have our first trailer for Pollyanna McIntosh’s Darlin’. Written and directed by the star of the original film, this one follows The Woman’s daughter as she’s found at a Catholic hospital. The nuns and priests think they can use torture and the fear of god to tame this girl, but her mom is on the prowl and will stop at nothing to get her back.
It never so much as crossed my mind that The Woman would ever get a sequel, but from what I see here I can definitely say that I’m excited to witness this bloody smorgasbord come to life. I rented the original soon after its DVD release, and some of its stranger and grosser bits have still hung in my mind. If you haven’t seen it, take a bit of time to check it out. You (probably) won’t regret it.
Darlin’ is being released by Dark Sky Films and will bite into theaters and VOD on July 12, 2019.
